Summary

The aim of this project is to promote innovation in the field of language technology by bolstering cooperation between higher education, science, and industry. Such synergy can be achieved through research and by training specialists in high-level digital skills related to language technology. The project further aims to prepare at least five language technology study modules and to provide opportunities to acquire high-level digital skills in language technologies for more than 800 students from the University of Latvia, Riga Technical University and Riga Stradiņš University as well as professionals from the public and private sectors. The project is carrying out research in five areas of language technology: (1) national language resources and platforms for their use and analysis; (2) language models and toolkits for automatic text analysis and synthesis; (3) language technologies for audiovisual material processing; (4) technologies, tools and infrastructures for language technology literacy and inclusive education; (5) a translation automation platform for training in the development and use of translation technologies.
